Backburner – Heatwave

Backburner is a Canadian mega crew consisting of over a dozen emcees who are all operating on all cylinders! They’re well read and fully in control of pop culture (this makes them hilarious). Who are we talking about: Fresh Kils, Wordburglar, Timbuktu, More Or Les, Uncle Fes, Ghettosocks, Chokeules, Jesse Dangerously, Jay Bizzy, Thesis Sahib, Beatmason, Frank Deluxe, Dexter Doolittle, Psybo, Ambition, Johnny Hardcore, Manalive, Ginzu333 & Mister E! No shortage of skills there. The new record, Heatwave, is out on the always enjoyable Hand’Solo Records. There is no way to pick a favourite but perhaps I will note Wordburgy’s verse in “Long Story Short” as most physically revulsive, haha. Three of these bombshells are playing at Wunderbar tonight for the Maple Sizzurp Rap Fest—Timbuktu, Thesis Sahib, and Ghettosocks! Don’t miss it.
