I saw this band at Sappyfest in 2009 and they were a lot more traditional then than they are now but they still ruled, schooled, and kilojouled. This new record is a lot more experimental, comparatively speaking, and only for the best, dear friends. Some of the aural strong suits of bands like Braids are really amplified in The Luyas, while reigning in some of the more redundant features of said style (ie. the tempo synced delays ad infinitum). I’m really digging this album. It’s a really great relaxing in the afternoon record. Check it check it check it!
