Bernice – What Was That?

2011 has been a great year for what I, at least to myself, call neo-croon. Sandro Perri, John Southworth, James Blake, Loom, Likewise Vultures, Sea Oleena, THOMAS, all of whom are pushing forward a genre of naval gazing vocal focused aural flowering. Robin Dann aka Bernice, in the eleventh hour, has given us this breath taking record to add to the list. It has not left my eardrums since I played it on the show last monday. Do yourself a great blessing and head over to her bandcamp for immediate purchase power. See “New Bodies” for the pudding proof. Hoorah! ***And upon closer evaluation to find out who I should be tagging in this post I came across production credits for the unstoppable Thom Gill (THOMAS, Loom)! All of these players are shaping into a recognizable scene of trustworthy song sculptors!
