Kieran Blake is a Newfoundland Tack artist from Montreal who makes folk dreams come true. As the title of the record indicates, the entire record is soaking wet in reverb to the extent that you can hear it raining in the background. The songs oscillate between heart breaking (“Senseless Too”) to lighter than air (“Love On The Run”). For how minimal the album is it has a surprising surplus of dimension and holds the attention quite powerfully. You can hear generous hints of expert lo-fi folk pop fellers like Woods and Ricky Eat Acid and Radiator Hospital operating between the Kieran Blake lines. “Songs From A Tunnel” is an altogether noble album that deserves its place with all the other great field recording and pensive folk pop that’s been happening in these last few years with great and much deserved success.
