Thomas Michael aka Ghibli’s 2011 compilation of the massive amount of artillery he banged out last year is a testament to his dedication to his constantly evolving form. About eight months ago Ghibli took a sharp turn for the dance floor. The relentless pace of 2011 illustrates the kind of dancing Ghibli imagines: the limbless outer-body experience you receive after hours of dancing when nothing matters anymore. Akin to the runner’s high, this dancer’s high is a complete trip that is not so aesthetically different from his past material as both Ghibli and Jaded Hipster Choir. Come slake your desperate need for bodily motion tonight at Wunderbar as the man Thomas Michael has recruited a whole tribe of outer-body practitioners such as Martyrs, Taiwan, Mikey Maybe, and DJ Generic for a big fundraiser to send him to SXSW. There will be sweat and tears of joy. Admission by Donation. 8 sharp. Wunderbar. Info.
Ghibli strikes again, compiling four notorious collaborators to rework the psycho dream state that is “Societal Finches” from his recent release, Pythia. T H O M A S, Headaches, Oh No! Yoko, and Film For The Future all weigh in with their own treatments of Ghibli’s mind melter. As a man who owns a Society Finch, I can attest to the inherent beauty of their morning voice and from there infer that Thomas Michael’s accompaniment is fully complimentary! Stack it up against these four fine fellows and see how you feel!

53 minutes of ecstasy. There are songs for summer nights and summer days packed tightly in here. As always, I take no responsibility for anything the rappers say and I apologize if you are offended. I am offended almost every time I listen to rap. This mix is nuts though. I’ve been pumping it all week. Enjoy it, my friendliez.
Though only a rough mix, this artist deemed “classical-wave” demonstration is a good indication that the future (and past) is bright for former Jaded Hipster Choir progenitor, Thomas Michael. His new project aims to rely heavily on classical and choral music, highlighting elements of it that might have gone unnoticed had he not irretrievably processed and smashed and squashed and compressed and modulated and chopped and diced the bejesus out of it. And somehow it comes out beautiful. Get your headphones on and close your eyes.
A digital 7″ is a self defeating concept, a bird without wings, so to speak, but the music is all the same. I’ve had a deep and long lasting affection for the JADED HIPSTER CHOIR and these two new songs are juuuuust marvelous. Dig in and hit up their history if you didn’t already know, specially Pill Weekend.
